MyBuffBuddy is a hardware product I am designing and developing to make fitness tracking feel more personal, rewarding and enjoyable.

The product combines a small physical device with a virtual companion that responds to real-world activity. Steps, workouts and active minutes contribute to the Buddy's progress, while regular interaction allows the user to feed, rest and care for it.

Rather than presenting fitness as a collection of graphs and numbers, MyBuffBuddy turns consistency into a relationship. The Buddy notices when the user exercises, celebrates progress and develops new forms, reactions, badges and abilities over time.

The device is designed to be carried throughout the day. It can be clipped to keys, attached to a gym bag, worn using a lanyard or kept close during a workout.

Planned hardware features include:

  • A compact colour pixel display
  • Physical buttons for tactile controls
  • Step and movement tracking
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • USB-C charging
  • A rechargeable battery
  • Vibration feedback
  • Keychain and wrist-worn options

The companion mobile app provides more detailed information without making the physical device feel overloaded. Users can review their steps, workouts, calories and streaks, manage their Buddy's mood and evolution, sync progress and control device settings.

MyBuffBuddy currently features five original characters:

  • Beastor, focused on strength
  • Drako, focused on power
  • Pumpkin, focused on endurance
  • Neko, focused on agility
  • Shadow, focused on focus and discipline

I am responsible for the entire product, including the original concept, hardware architecture, electronics, PCB planning, firmware, Bluetooth communication, mobile application, character system, branding, product design, website and business strategy.

The project brings together my experience in software development with my growing work in embedded systems, electronics and physical product development. My long-term goal is to turn MyBuffBuddy from a working prototype into a complete consumer hardware product manufactured and sold through Legocia.
